Don Quixote: Knights do not rust

Since Miguel de Cervantes wrote the story of Don Quixote, the ‘knight of the sad countenance’ 400 years ago, this venerable figure hasn’t lost any of his appeal. In Cervantes’s novel, he was already considerably older that his squire Sancho Panza and his horse Rocinante. But a long list of composers, painters and choreographers have kept him young ever since by telling his tale in pictures, music and on stage. We relate his adventures using the wonderful music that Georg Philipp Telemann wrote for his story.
