Film and video production company rocafilm was founded in 2010 by Carmen Maria Zimmermann and Roland Horvath. Their work focusses on documentaries and video production for opera and theatre. The company’s projects include video designs for Giulio Cesare at both the 2012 Salzburg Whitsun and Summer Festivals (directed by Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier). Their collaborations with Damiano Michieletto began in 2012 with his production of La bohème at the 2012 Salzburg Festival and continued in 2013 with Falstaff and in 2014 with La Cenerentola at both the Whitsun and Summer Festivals. rocafilm also worked with Damiano Michieletto at the Theater an der Wien on Idomeneo (2013) as well as on Die Zauberflöte at La Fenice in Venice (2015).
Carmen Maria Zimmermann was born in Salzburg in 1981 and is a filmmaker and camera operator. She studied photography at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and digital television at the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg. She has worked as a media technician for the Salzburg Festival since 2007.
Roland Horvath was born in Graz in 1981 and is an architect, filmmaker and video artist. He studied architecture at the University of Technology in Graz and the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture in Montpellier. He has worked as a media technician for the Salzburg Festival since 2008.
