The 2021 Salzburg Easter Festival: new dates and programme
The 2021 Salzburg Easter Festival is scheduled to take place on Easter weekend
The 2021 Salzburg Easter Festival is scheduled to take place – despite all the current uncertainty! Christian Thielemann, our Artistic Director, and Nikolaus Bachler, our new Intendant, have put together a new programme, concentrated on Easter weekend itself, in which our long-announced artists will be presenting a variety of works in partly new constellations:
The programme in overview – 2 to 5 April 2021
Choral Concert: Christian Thielemann and the Staatskapelle Dresden will open the Salzburg Easter Festival on Good Friday with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem in d minor (K. 626). The Bachchor Salzburg will sing alongside the soloists Golda Schultz, Szilvia Vörös, Sebastian Kohlhepp and Alexander Tsymbalyuk.
Orchestral Concert, Thielemann: On Easter Saturday, Denis Matsuev, one of the most in-demand pianists of his generation, will play Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in a minor. The same concert, under the baton of Christian Thielemann, will include Ludwig van Beethoven’s renowned Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, op. 55, the Eroica.
Orchestral Concert, Pappano: On Easter Sunday, the Easter Festival will welcome Sir Antonio Pappano to the podium of the Staatskapelle. He will conduct Maurice Ravel’s suite for orchestra Ma mère l’oye and Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 2 in C major. Hilary Hahn, a former ‘Wunderkind’ who is today a celebrated international star, will play Mozart’s A major Violin Concerto.
Gala Concert: The Easter Festival will close on Easter Monday with a Gala Concert featuring Anna Netrebko, Golda Schultz Yusif Eyvazov and Alexander Tsymbalyuk, who were supposed to sing in Puccini’s Turandot. They will be joined by the Staatskapelle Dresden, once more under the baton of Christian Thielemann. The precise programme will be made public at a later date.
How to get your tickets!
Regrettably, all tickets hitherto purchased, and all offers for all performances from 27 March to 5 April 2021, are no longer valid. New orders can only be accepted by e‑mail to email@example.com or by telephone at the number +43 / (0)662/8045-361. Naturally, the cost of these tickets may be offset by monies already paid. We kindly request that you take note of the following timeline:
- Advance bookings for Patrons are possible with immediate effect, until 26 February; please just reply to this e‑mail, or phone the above number.
- Individual tickets may be bought by e‑mail and telephone as of 2 March. The Webshop will also go online on this date.
- As of 15 March, you can buy tickets directly at the Ticket Office at Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz 11.
We kindly ask for your understanding that seats will be allocated to the best of our best ability in the given category. Due to the tight timeframe and the current distance rules, it will regrettably be impossible to take into account the regular seats traditionally chosen by some Patrons, nor can we consider any other requests for specific seats. If you order more than two tickets per performance, please state the name of your intended guests, because of the current necessity for personalising tickets.
Should Patrons have any questions about their membership, they are kindly requested to contact the Patrons’ Association directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are unable to attend the Easter Festival because of the current situation, you may choose between a refund of the ticket price, placing the amount in question as credit in your customer account for future ticket purchases, or makinga donation to the Salzburg Easter Festival GmbH, for which we would be extremely grateful in these exceptional circumstances. Please use the online form.
We shall do our best to process these ticket cancellations speedily, but ask that you send your reimbursement requests only once, and that you wait until mid-May before making further enquiries. This is because the process of rescinding tickets has to run in parallel with holding the remodelled Easter Festival. Ticket costs will only be reimbursed upon receipt of the appropriate request. It is not necessary to return the original tickets.
We should like to thank you for your understanding and your loyalty. Please stay healthy, and we look forward to seeing you again in Salzburg!
