Sarah Wedl-Wilson elected Chair of the Board
In the meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Salzburg Easter Festival on 14 December 2015, Mrs Sarah Wedl-Wilson, MA, the representative of the SalzburgerLand Tourismus GmbH (Salzburg State Tourism Ltd.), was elected Chair of the Board for a five year term. Sarah Wedl-Wilson succeeds Mr Hans Scharfetter who steps down at his own request after completing his term of office.
The mayor of Salzburg Dr Heinz Schaden was elected 1st Deputy Chairman and Dr Eberhard von Koerber 2nd Deputy Chairman.
Sarah Wedl-Wilson has been Deputy Chancellor for External Relations at the Mozarteum University Salzburg since October 2014. She was a member of the University Board of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna from 2003 to 2007 and has been a guest lecturer on the Sports, Culture and Event Management degree programme at the University of Applied Sciences in Kufstein, Austria since 2000. In addition to her activities as an arts manager she also serves on a number of boards in the business community at home and abroad.
Sarah Wedl-Wilson was born in London into a family of musicians. She read Modern Languages at Cambridge University and went on to work as an arts manager for IMG Artists in London, the Camerata Salzburg and in the Cologne Philharmonic Hall. She was Artistic Director of Schloss Elmau and subsequently worked alongside René Jacobs for ten years as Managing Director of the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music. Since 2010 she has led her own arts and festival consultancy.
