American heldentenor Stephen Gould studied at the New England Conservatory of Music, among others. In 2004 he made his Bayreuth Festival debut as Tannhäuser, and he has since performed there as Siegmund and Siegfried (Der Ring des Nibelungen) as well as the title roles in Parsifal and Tristan. Other recent engagements have taken him to the Vienna State Opera, the Semperoper Dresden, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the New National Theatre Tokyo, the Metropolitan Opera and to the BBC Proms. In addition to the great Wagner roles, his repertoire includes Florestan (Fidelio), Paul (Die tote Stadt), Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos) and the title roles in Peter Grimes and Otello. In 2015 Stephen Gould was awarded the title Austrian Kammersänger.
