Daniele Gatti studied composition and conducting at the conservatory in his native Milan. He has held several positions such as Music Director of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Principal Conductor at the Zurich Opera House, Music Director of the Orchestre National de France and Principal Conductor of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, before becoming Music Director of the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome. He holds the same position with the Orchestra Mozart, and is also Artistic Advisor to the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Engagements include the festivals in Salzburg and Bayreuth, the Teatro alla Scala and the Metropolitan Opera. The recipient of numerous honours, he was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur by the French Republic in 2016. Daniele Gatti first appeared in an orchestral concert at the Salzburg Easter Festival in 2015.
